The children under the sponsorship programme have not only concentrated on improving their academic performance, they are also improving their sports skills. Response Network has was invited to participate in anti human trafficking and forced labor fun run by the International Labour Organization. The girls trained intensively in preparation for this race.
Finally the day for the fun race, sensitizing the communities about human trafficking and child labour arrived. The girls were all smiles and smartly dressed in white and black with Academic work and response Network logos on their T-shirts. They waited patiently for the Town Mayor to flag off the run.
The girl’s attire was eye catching and the national media and other media stations could not keep away from the girls, so they interviewed the girls for the whole nation to know.
The race started at a slow pace but the girls gained momentum as they reached the finishing line. Lillian Siasayi was the fasted and came third in a group of 55 participants; she was only beaten by 2 men from the Air force.
Response Network Sports coordinator was there to support the girls, he joined the race and encouraged the girls that were almost giving up and they made it till the end line
