From my childhood, I dreamed of working in the health sector. I loved seeing people being helped, but after my parents’ divorce, my dream seemed to fade. My mother struggled to support us, and my elder siblings had to drop out of school due to financial constraints. I feared I would meet the same fate until my guidance and grade teacher recommended me to Response Network’s sponsorship program.

I was accepted into the program in 5th grade, and it changed my life. Response Network provided school supplies, paid my school fees, and enabled me to focus on my education. I graduated from St. Mary’s Secondary School in 2017 and enrolled in a nursing/midwifery program in 2019. Response Network continued their sponsorship, and I graduated in 2022.
I am now a registered nurse/midwife employed by the government at a clinic in Livingstone. Thanks to Response Network, I can support my family and help my siblings get an education. I am currently paying for my nephew’s schooling, something I could never have done without Response Network’s support.
I hope to continue helping girls get an education. As they say, “When you educate a girl, you educate a nation.” Education is the most important tool for empowering girls, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference.
