Distribution of shoes, bags, socks and uniforms

The smile can tell it all….

Its all smiles

Response Network runs a sponsorship program for orphaned girls and the major donor is Academic Work supporting more than 900 girls. These school girls are provided with all school requirements ranging from fees, uniforms, shoes, bags, socks, jerseys and books. The past two weeks have been very busy at the Response Network office, attending to more than 80 school  girls per day. Even before the schedule for distribution of shoes, bags, socks and uniforms was released we had girls coming to the office enquiring when they will get their school requirements. The girls were very happy when they were told their items are now ready.

Bata shoe shop at the popular Mosi Oa Tunya shopping mall did not have any dull moment as the shop was always full of  girls trying on the shoes and choosing their bags. The girls were not allowed to come on their own, each school sent a guidance teacher as it is a rule at the shoe shop to accompany the girls for security reasons.

From head to toe the girls had it all new. They were so excited and couldnt wait to show off at school the next day(new shirt, new dress/skirt, new socks and new bag). With the onset of winter the jerseys that they recieved as their christmas gifts are now saving them. Going to school is now exciting compared to the days when some of  the girls used to go to school bare footed, with just a dress and no jersey.

Upon reaching the office waiting to be attended to, they girls sang appreciation songs  to their sponsors Academic Work and Response Network .
